How the Team Builder Game Works
The CFB 27 Team Builder is a draft game played against the computer using the real College Football 27 rosters and player ratings from our database. The goal is simple: build a higher rated roster than the opponent, one position at a time.
- Every round covers one position, from quarterback through the secondary. The game deals 8 random team crests from the 130-plus FBS teams in CFB 27.
- You pick one to three teams depending on difficulty, then lock in. You draft the highest rated player at that position from the teams you picked.
- The computer drafts the highest rated player at that position from the teams you passed on, so every crest you leave behind can hurt you.
- Teams are removed from the pool once used, and the roster with the higher total overall rating after the final round wins.
Play a Full Team draft of all 22 positions, or a quicker Offense Only or Defense Only draft of 11 positions. Each round runs on a 10-second clock, so you have to know which schools carry the best depth chart at every position. After the draft you get a grade from A+ to F comparing your roster to a perfect draft, and your record, win streak and best score are saved for each mode.

What is the CFB 27 Team Builder Game?

How does scoring work?
Each side's score is the sum of the overall ratings (OVR) of the players it drafts, one per position. You always get the highest-rated player at the position from the teams you picked, and the opponent gets the highest-rated player from the teams you left behind. The higher total at the end of the draft wins.
What is the difference between Easy, Medium and Hard?
Difficulty sets how many of the eight teams you pick each round: three on Easy, two on Medium and one on Hard. More picks give you a safer floor. Fewer picks mean trusting your college football knowledge to identify the best roster on the board.
What game modes are there?
Full Team drafts all 22 positions, Offense Only drafts the 11 offensive positions and Defense Only drafts the 11 defensive positions. Records and best scores are tracked separately for each mode.
What happens when the round timer runs out?
You have 10 seconds to pick each round. When the clock hits zero you are locked in with whatever you have selected, and those picks count as normal. If nothing is selected, one random team is drafted for you and the round is marked as auto-locked.
What is the draft grade?
After the draft your total is compared to a perfect draft, meaning the score you would have had by taking the best player on the board every round. Grades run from A+ for a perfect draft down to F.
Is my record saved?
Yes. Your wins, losses, win streak and best score are saved in your browser for each game mode, and an in-progress draft survives a page refresh. Records are stored on your device only and can be reset from the menu.
